'Narcos' season 2 news and rumors: All episodes to drop on August 26? Show nominated for two Golden Globes

Netflix has yet to announce the release date for "Narcos" season 2.Narcos/Official Facebook Page

"Narcos" may not be 'noisy' when it comes to fanfare as compared to other Netflix shows but it is faring pretty well on its own. Not only has it scored a second season, which is yet to pin a release date, it has also received nods for next year's Golden Globe Awards.

"Narcos" season 2 is secured and is already filming, reveals Realty Today. But even with Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura) and company back in front of the cameras, Netflix still remains mum about the show's release date.

However, guesses are being thrown around and Netflix Life says that there's a huge possibility that the first episode will premiere "late summer/early fall of 2016," which is some time in August next year.

The guess is not all too far off. Season 1 of the crime thriller drama debuted all its 10 episodes on Aug. 28 and Netflix has a habit of following almost the same timeline for its show's new seasons. If that's the case, then Aug. 26, 2016 is a safe bet for "Narcos'" season 2. Of course, that remains a hunch at the moment.

What's more than a guess, though, is that the Netflix drama will be competing for a Golden Globe trophy next year. CBS News has released the official Golden Globe Awards 2016 nominations list and "Narcos" came up twice. The show got a nod for "Best Television Drama," competing with "Empire," "Mr. Robot," "Outlander," and fan favourite "Game of Thrones."

Wagner Moura also received his first Golden Globe recognition with a "Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Drama" nomination. Competition will be a bit though, too, as he goes up against Bob Odenkirk for "Better Call Saul," Jon Hamm for "Mad Men," Rami Malek for "Mr. Robot," and Liev Schreiber for "Ray Donovan."

Find out if "Narcos" bags a Golden Globe when the ceremonies air on Jan. 10. Stay tuned for more updates on "Narcos" season 2.
