Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for "Narcos" season 2 which, while short, does reveal several clues about the upcoming season and when it will officially launch. As shown in the trailer, "Narcos" season 2 will not be delayed as widely rumored and is set to premiere this September. 

The teaser trailer starts with Wagner Moura, who plays drug kingpin Pablo Escobar, walking toward the camera. As he passes under the light, the trailer cuts to a Dec. 1 1949 date. This is the date of Escobar's birth. It then later reveals the date Dec. 2 1993, which is the date of Escobar's death. 

By focusing on these dates it is heavily implied that season 2 of "Narcos" will detail the death of Pablo Escobar. In the real history of events, Escobar committed suicide near his home when the FBI agents and local police were closing in on his location, despite his best efforts to escape. Escobar notably preferred to die than to be captured. 

Season 1 ended with Escobar's first arrest, and with his death looming in the future, it is likely that the second season will explore how he breaks out of prison and continue his drug empire until he is finally pressed into a corner and to his death.

The end of the trailer reveals the show's Sept. 2 premiere date. Like all other Netflix original shows, all 10 episodes will be released simultaneously, allowing viewers to binge-watch the show from beginning to end. This is a far different practice from what cable television networks do as they release episodes once per week.

There are no confirmations that the show will push forward with a third season, although it was previously reported that the studios are interested in pushing forward with a new direction if season 3 is green-lit. If this happens then season 3 may shift its attention to the Mexican drug cartels, which were borne of the actions of Pablo Escobar.
