"Narcos" season 2 will see Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura) a free man, but not for long. It was already revealed that his death is imminent, but the drug kingpin will not go down without a fight.

In the trailer for the new season of the hit Netflix series, Escobar manages to break out of prison, which, for a high-profile criminal like him, does not go unnoticed for one bit.

In an effort to put him back behind bars, authorities deploy 4,000 soldiers, as revealed in the "Narcos" season 2 preview, all armed and stirred by the herculean task to turn in Escobar.

The search involves helicopters (a bunch of them too) and "tens of thousands of rounds fired." It seems like Escobar has nowhere to go, but even US DEA agent Steve Murphy (Boyd Holbrook) is wrong.

"This wasn't a manhunt – it was an invasion. But the problem was Pablo was never more dangerous than when you almost have him," Murphy said in his voiceover for "Narcos" season 2.

Escobar's escape is "the biggest law enforcement blunder of all time," as Murphy called it and so they want to make sure that they got "payback."

Of course, in the end, Escobar meets his demise. Netflix and "Narcos" have both been pretty vocal about the imminent death of the main character, but the show won't stop there.

Obviously, Moura will no longer be on the show with his character gone, but drug isn't and its existence will be the driving force of the series after "Narcos" season 2.

"Pablo Escobar happens to be the man who created the mass business of cocaine trade. He's, for lack of a better word, the founding father of this business but the show is about cocaine," executive producer Jose Padilha told The Hollywood Reporter.

"It's about drug dealers that deal cocaine," he went on to say with his co-EP Eric Newman adding "There are other drug dealers and there are alliances formed against Pablo so there are a multitude of stories we could tackle."

"Narcos" season 2 premieres Friday, Sept. 2 on Netflix.
