Netflix has officially green-lit "Narcos" for season 3 and season 4. The renewal happened just days after the second season went live, which suggests that it did extremely well.

Season 2 saw the downfall of Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura), but the story does not end there. The executive producers of the show have already said that with drug trade still alive, there will be more stories to tell.

For "Narcos" season 3, it looks like the Cali Cartel will now be the center of attention. Following the demise of Escobar and the fall of the Medellin Cartel, Cali rose to power and became the biggest drug ring in the world.

According to TIME, the Cali Cartel catapulted to power when the drug kingpin was imprisoned. It became so influential that they supplied 90 percent of the world's cocaine.

The Wrap says that "Narcos" season 3 can focus on Jorge Salcedo, a former Colombian army official who was tasked by the Cali to take down Escobar, which he did not manage to do.

He stayed as the head of security, and was tasked to eliminate one of the ring's accountants as Gilberto Rodriguez Orejuela, one of the cartel's leaders, was paranoid.

Salcedo started to fear for his and his family's life so he goes on to work with the Central Intelligence Agency or CIA, which led to the capture of many Cali Cartel leaders including Orejuela.

The Wrap says that such packed story will b amazing content for "Narcos" season 3. For now, though, there is not much known about the new season, but since it is known to stick to real-life, this story should eventually come up.

However, the story is just at the point where the Cali Cartel establishing itself and beginning its reign in the drug world so Salcedo's storyline could still be far off.

"Narcos" season 3 is bound to be another excitement installment of the hit Netflix series. Just recently, executive producer Eric Newman spoke about his plans for DEA agent Javier Peña's (Pedro Pascal) role in the new season.

"I'd probably have to look at what Peña's role would be in the Cali, in taking down Cali," Newman told Entertainment Weekly.

"I love working with Pedro Pascal, so nothing would make me happier than to be back in business with him in some way," he went on to say.
