'Naruto Shippuden' episode 461 spoilers: Hagoromo and Hamura's history explored

Naruto Shippuden - Hagoromo and Haruma Viz Media, Studio Pierrot

"Naruto Shippuden" episode 460 explored the origins of Kaguya Otsutsuki and how she was betrayed, forcing her to devour a fruit from the God Tree and become the first person with powerful chakra. Episode 461 will now continue the story and explore the rebellion of her twin children, Hagoromo and Hamura.

According to Vine Report, the manga detailed the history of how the twins battled Kaguya. When they finally defeated her, Hagoromo absorbed her powers and split the Ten-Tails by spreading the chakra out, creating the individual Nine-Tail Beasts that would one day unite. He then placed the husk of the Ten-Tails, formerly Kaguya, and sealed it away in a shell that eventually became the moon.

It is also shown in the preview trailer for the episode that Kaguya did not became insane and malevolent all at once. There is a clip revealing she intended on using the chakra from the Divine Fruit to help mankind, despite being betrayed, but when she gave birth to twins and discovered they inherited her power she was driven mad and angry.

The report points out that the episode will focus primarily on Hagoromo's story and how Kaguya was defeated, given that Kaguya's origins have already been revealed in episode 460. Episode 462 is titled "The Constructed Past" and will continue the story by focusing on how Zetsu manipulated history and altered the tablets created by Hagoromo.

From there the series will focus on how Black Zetsu eventually absorbed White Zetsu and how they, as one entity, altered the tablets in order to manipulate Clan Uchiha and eventually free Kaguya and bring her back in her full power as the Ten-Tails monster.

Given how faithful the anime series is to the manga, despite the addition of multiple filler arcs, it is speculated that the anime will feature the same backstory and sequence of events, with very few changes in order to allow episode 461 to tell the whole story in the span of a single episode.

"Naruto Shippuden" episode 461 airs this May 19.
