The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will make sure that Luke (Will Chase) pays his $40 million back taxes in the second half of the current season of "Nashville."

During the midseason finale, the country singer was baffled when he got a visit from the government agency. He was then horrified to find out that his business manager has been pilfering money from him and that he owed millions of bucks for all the taxes the former did not pay on his behalf. The bad news steadily came — the culprit has fled the country, leaving Luke with no choice but to liquidate his assets to avoid being bankrupt.

When the media got wind of his predicament, most of Luke's sponsors backed out. An ugly fight with his girlfriend Gabriella (Cynthia Kaye McWilliams) ensued and they broke up. With his son still angry at him for the incident with Juliette (Hayden Panettiere), Luke had no one and nothing left. He tried to reach out to Colt (Keean Johnson), who has been staying at his grandfather's house, but the teen shut the door in his face and refused to accept his apology.

When the series returns for season 4B, viewers can expect to see Luke's continued bad luck with his personal and professional life. Colt looks like he will remain angry with him for a long time and Gabriella feels she is better off without a liability. Once Luke liquidates his assets, he will be left will almost nothing to get by. All the things he worked hard for will go up in smoke. How will he overcome this unfortunate situation?

Meanwhile, spoilers report that Panettiere will be returning to the series soon. She has reportedly attended filming and will make her comeback in an episode slated to air in April. The 26-year-old actress took a break last October to get treatment for her postpartum depression. She gave birth to daughter Kaya in December 2014. Panettiere opened about her struggles to E! Online while attending the recently concluded Critics' Choice Awards.

"It made my life better. I do feel and hope it's made other people's lives better and more of an understanding because postpartum depression was not something that I ever understood. You could never understand it unless you have a personal involvement with it," she said.
