Luke (Will Chase) has officially reached rock bottom after losing everything he holds dear in his life — his son, his label, and his girlfriend. So what will become of him when the ABC series "Nashville" returns in the second half of season 4? Instead of wallowing in self-pity, showrunner Luke will fight for what are his, reveals Dee Johnson.

During the midseason finale, Luke got a surprise visit from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). He was told that his business manager hightailed the country after pilfering a lot of money from him and other unfortunate clients. As a result, Luke owed $40 million in back taxes, which he has to pay soon. When the media got wind of the juicy news, he lost his business deals one by one. It certainly did not help that his girlfriend Gabriella (Cynthia Kaye McWilliams) was bugging him for what happened. When he lost his temper, she decided to leave him.

Thoroughly defeated, Luke went to see his son Colt (Keean Johnson) at his grandparents' house. He told the teenager about his predicament. Instead of taking pity on his father, Colt closed the door in Luke's face after telling him he has indeed lost everything. Johnson told The Hollywood Reporter that Luke would it take the loss of his business deals hard, as he had put up a lot of sacrifices for the brand. The entire thing even cost him his son, the most precious thing of all. But this setback would reportedly not put him down for long, as he prepares to fight to get them all back.

"He has to go back into a discovery of who he really is after all that's happened and get back to his real self, and to a moral center that he can live with... I think he's mostly motivated, at this point in his life given everything that he went through, to get back to himself," the executive producer said.

Nashville" season 4 will return on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.
