With the new show returning early next year, it is said that that much of season 5 for "Nashville" is already fleshed out.

Spoilers for the new show have already made their way online. According to speculations, with some of the main characters leaving, the new show's run on CMT will focus on Juliette Barnes, and it will be revealed that she has in fact survived the plane crash in season 4. While most of the stories for the season 5 have yet to be confirmed, Hayden Panettiere – who plays Juliette in the series – signing up for 22 episodes in season 5 is already a dead give-away. However, since Juliette may well be dealing with serious injuries, much of Panettiere's season 5 appearance may be focused on trying to recover and get back on her feet once again.

Meanwhile, TV Line is predicting that the season 5 run of "Nashville" on CMT – its first on the network – will shake things up. Reportedly, the new series run will introduce a transgender character in season 5. In addition, the new character will play a significant role in Juliette's recovery, since it is hinted that more than the physical injuries, the singer has also suffered emotional and mental trauma in the accident. It is also hinted that while focusing on recovery, the accident may have significant impact on her life and career, and the industry follower even teased that Juliette may never step up on a stage again.

Meanwhile, aside from Juliette, it seems that matters will also take a turn for the worst for Rayna Jaymes. Rumor has it that Connie Britton's character will have grave problems on her plate, one of them being hounded by a serious stalker.

"Nashville" season 5 is set to return on Jan. 5, 2017 on CMT, airing on Hulu the day after.
