Baron Davis has been out of commission for close to three years now but it seems like the two-time NBA All-Star wants to prove he can still run with the younger talent in the NBA.

Davis last played for the New York Knicks in May 6, 2012. It was game 4 of the first round of the NBA playoffs against the Miami Heat when Davis suddenly fell on the floor in pain.

A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) would later reveal that the third overall pick of the 1999 NBA Draft had suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and medial collateral ligament (MCL) while also partially tearing his patellar tendon on his right knee.

After undergoing surgery, Davis would be never seen on the hardwood again until probably now.

Davis played 13 seasons in the NBA, starting off with the Charlotte Hornets. He would eventually become a journeyman with stops at Golden State (Warriors), Los Angeles (Clippers), and Cleveland (Cavaliers) before his final stop in New York.

Of course, his best years came in the early goings as a Hornet and with the Warriors. But Davis never really hit it off well with the Knicks which was compounded by that career-threatening knee injury.

He eventually became a free agent in 2012 but would be out of action until 2013. Until this day, Davis has never been heard off so his attempt at an NBA comeback may seem like an uphill climb.

Being away from the game for three years does pose a lot of questions. His age is one, although there is no question that his veteran smarts is something teams can benefit from. But the thing is, how fit and ready is Davis to play in today's NBA level and would there be a team brave enough to give him a chance?

The thing here is that Davis is just trying out which may mean he is open to the idea of not making the grade of any team. And as they say, there is no harm in trying and apparently Baron Davis is doing just that despite all the criticism hurled at him right now.

Will he succeed at an NBA comeback at 36? That remains to be seen.
