NBA 2015 update: How can LA Lakers turn their misfortune around?

The NBA Playoffs have begun and with a lot of surprising new teams comprising the matchups. The Boston Celtics were somehow able to get themselves in despite carrying a rag-tag team that saw most of their superstars traded.

Luck was of course essential in all that of course but as far as their rivals are concerned, the Los Angeles Lakers, lady luck simply didn't smile on them.

The Lakers' fortune this year once again brings up the notion on whether the Lakers can get back on track. Will they be able to recall that winning tradition? What do they plan in the summer?

First off is of course the NBA Lottery. The Lakers have big chance of at least being among the teams that can take a crack at the top three rookie picks. Assuming however they do, then what?

The top rookie for the coming NBA draft will be a big help but certainly not the immediate solution to turn the Lakers' fortunes. Unless he possesses the skills and talent of a Lebron James, the Lakers can either choose to wait and rebuild or trade that prospective rookie for an established NBA superstar.

There are a lot of key names which should hit free agency after this season. There is Demarcus Cousins, LaMarcus Aldridge and Rajon Rondo to name a few. And while the Lakers can surely offer these guys tons of money and security, the question is are they willing to play for El-Ay?

Gone are the days when players who look forward to joining the Lakers and their winning ways. With most teams practically balanced, the team's chance of luring high profile players to their fold has become harder to come by.

Kobe Bryant? Let us face it, he is nearing the end of his career. The Lakers still listen to him but the fact is, should they? Bryant is still talented as ever but with his durability being a problem, would it be wise to continue having him and listening to him at this point?

The Lakers have a crop of players with bright futures ahead but it remains to be seen if they will wear the purple and gold for long.

There is Julius Randle and Jordan Clarkson leading the pack but will they start and end their careers with the Lakers?

Mitch Kupchak and the Buss family have their work cut out for them this offseason. Decision-making will be essential. Will it be immediate results or another long-term cure?

Ask any Laker fan and you will surely they will answer you that they want to that old winning tradition. They are tired of being in the short-end of the NBA season.
