NBA 2015 rumors: Goran Dragic to stay with Miami Heat for a long time

After Goran Dragic got his wish of being traded by the Phoenix Suns, the next order of business for him is the coming free-agency.

Dragic is one of the many players who can explore options once the current NBA season ends but from the looks of it, he plans to stay in Miami for quite a long time.

This is with the understanding that rumors about the Miami Heat offering him a max contract. Dragic has the option to decline an estimated $7.5 million come the offseason but could remain in Miami if he is given a multi-year contract.

But with all those things months away, the main order of business right now is to help the Heat in its drive of making the NBA playoffs. The Heat are tied with the Indiana Pacers as of this writing but the Heat have a chance to make it to the playoffs, hopefully higher than the eighth seed.

The Heat are in an unlikely situation but a lot of factors have contributed to such. One of course was the sudden departure of Lebron James which was followed by the sidelining of Chris Bosh due to blood clots in his lungs. Compounding the Heat woes is the fact that Wade, Deng and Mario Chalmers are either out or playing sparingly due to various injuries.

In their place however, Dragic seems to be settling in perfectly and has been getting help from less popular players on the Heat roster. That includes the likes of Tyler Johnson and Hassan Whiteside who have been doing their share to keep the team afloat.

Could Dragic be the future of the Heat? The answer to that may all depend come the offseason. Will he sign or decline the $7.5 million option? If he should decline, will he stay on and be given a multi-year contract instead?

As far as Dragic is concerned, it seems any will do as long as the Heat want him around.
