NBA 2015 rumors: New York Knicks to court Brook Lopez?

Brook Lopez was the subject of talks before most of that died down especially after the NBA trade deadline. And despite making it to the NBA playoffs, Lopez's name is once again in the picture.

While the Nets are expected to bow sooner or later, focus is on the Nets center. Apparently it concerns his contract which carries an opt-out clause in the final year. And with that said, would it be wise for Lopez to check out the market once more?

Many teams are interested in getting the services of Lopez but one thing he may be looking for is long-term and security deals. Lopez has had his bouts with foot injuries and should that bother him in his final year, his market value may diminish immensely.

Though it seems unlikely that Brook Lopez would leave the Nets, if a long-term deal is indeed on his mind, maybe their next door neighbors can give that – The New York Knicks. After losing Tyson Chandler and Ama're Stoudemire ironically to the Dallas Mavericks, there is a gaping hole in the center slot.

The Knicks could try and bait Lopez into their fold since the center position is something that is vacant. Phil Jackson is expected to go on the aggressive once free agency starts considering the Knicks, except perhaps for Carmelo Anthony are in need of new blood. And a center can certainly help ease the burden on Anthony's shoulders if Lopez opts out and decides to check out other teams.

If there is one team which can grant Lopez a long-term deal, Jackson is most certainly one who can make that happen.

So would the Knicks pursue Lopez just in case he does decide to opt out? The obvious answer is yes. But as far as the terms of the deal is concerned (if ever), all that lies on the hands of the Zen Master Phil Jackson.
