While the newest installment of the long-running hoops games franchise from 2K Games will not be officially out until next week, hardcore fans of the "NBA" titles who have placed their pre-orders will be able to play four days early, as the game's "Early Tip-off Weekend" promo launches today.

The promo lets players get a taste of the full "NBA 2K16" experience days earlier than its official Sept. 29 release. In addition to the early access, the "Early Tip-Off Weekend" promo also gives players bonus in-game items like 10,000 virtual currency to spend in-game. The pre-order editions also include the MyTEAM VIP package, which gives three Emerald Team packs with guaranteed Emerald players for new-gen consoles and PC pre-orders. For the Xbox 360 and PS3 pre-ordered versions, players get a Gold Booster Pack with a guaranteed Gold player and four additional Gold items.

The promo is accessible with both digital and physical pre-ordered copies of the game. Those who are placing pre-orders for on-disc copies of "NBA 2K16" can go to either GameStop or Walmart, which are the very first retailers to participate in the event, even opening at 12 a.m. of Sept. 25 to facilitate a midnight launch of the promo, according to the official "NBA 2K16" Twitter account.

Meanwhile, giant retailer Best Buy is also offering early editions of the "NBA 2K16" title, but only had select participating stores opening at midnight. Aside from the standard early editions of the game, some participating retailers like GameStop are also offering an early release for the Michael Jordan special edition copies of the game.

"NBA 2K16" is from 2K Games and Take Two Interactive, and will officially launch on Sept. 29 on the PlayStation 3 and 4, Xbox 360 and One, as well as on PC.
