With Thanksgiving Day fast approaching, Microsoft is showing that they're in a giving mood as they are making "NBA 2K16" free to play for the upcoming weekend.

The event, taking place from Nov. 20 to 22, will be open to all Xbox Live Gold members, according to Gamespot

Players who want to take Microsoft up on their offer can head on over to the Xbox One Dashboard and find "NBA 2K16" in the Gold Member section. Another way to get the free version of "NBA 2K16" for the upcoming weekend is to visit the official Xbox One website and download the game from there.

The "NBA 2K16" offer is part of Free Play Days promotion.

Aside from the weekend promotion, "NBA 2K16" will also be offered at a discount during the event itself and even after it ends, according to Polygon. Players who will also find themselves enjoying "NBA 2K16" over the weekend can even choose to continue the progress they have made as their save files will carry over if they end up buying it.

Players who will get "NBA 2K16" for the weekend event and end up deciding to purchase the full game will also be glad to know that they will not have to go through with the whole download process all over again.

In related news, a patch was also recently released for "NBA 2K16," according to Design and Trend.

The recent patch made a variety of minor tweaks to the game, such as adding the commemorative patch for Flip Saunders to the uniforms of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Other visual tweaks to the uniforms of other teams have also been made, as well as other minor gameplay fixes.

The patch is currently unavailable for the Xbox One version of "NBA 2K16," although such is expected to change soon.
