'NBA 2K17' release date: pre-orders come with special bonus; Game to drop in September

"NBA 2K17" is scheduled for release on Sept. 20 and fans who will be pre-ordering the game will receive a little token of appreciation from developer Visual Concepts and publisher 2K Sports. The added bonus will be available for all three editions.

Fans pre-ordering any edition of the game will be entitled to the Early Tip-Off Weekends. Their game will arrive on Sept. 16, a Friday, which will give them a chance to enjoy it throughout the weekend.

The Standard Edition is available for US$59.99 and will include 5,000 virtual currency, three packs of MyTeam bundle, with a guaranteed Paul George free agent card. Two more additional items will be announced at a later date. George will grace the cover of the game upon its release.

The Legend Edition sells for US$79.99 and will have Kobe Bryant on its cover. Its digital item bonus will include 30,000 virtual currency, three packs of MyTeam bundle with a Kobe free agent card guaranteed. It will also arrive with the Kobe #8 Mitchell & Ness jersey, a Kobe hoodie and two more bonus items. For its physical gifts, one Black Mamba controller skin, two Panini Kobe trading cards and an "NBA 2K17" Kobe poster will be included.

For the Legend Gold Edition, which is for US$99.99, all the contents of the Legend Edition will be thrown in, plus additional digital items of 70,000 virtual currency, two extra packs of MyTeam bundle and the Nike Kobe shoe collection. A lenticular cover insert will also come along as the physical item bonus.

Meanwhile, "NBA 2K16" players can now enjoy the game with an updated roster that includes 2017 rookies. These include Ben Simmons, Brandon Ingram and several more. The updated roster for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One were created by EmbraceThePace, TyMan8400 and Eli Stakzz00.

This also means that recent trades and new jersey numbers for the NBA players will also take effect in the game. Derrick Rose is now with the New York Knicks, Orlando Magic's Serge Ibaka will now sport the number 7 jersey, while Indiana Pacers will now have Jeff Teague and Thaddeus Young.
