NBA All-Star 2016 news: Reserves named; notable names left out

The official players who will compose the reserve rosters of the East and West All-Stars are officially out.

Heading the list are Draymond Green and Klay Thompson for the Western All-Stars, while Jimmy Butler and DeMar DeRozan got their expected slots on the Eastern side as well.

Skimming through the list, it seems that the East is going small ball, while the West is using the traditional mix of big and small players heading to Toronto. The official list was released via NBA.com.

While the selection doesn't seem to be a surprise, there were notable names left out.

For the East, missing are Pau Gasol, Kemba Walker, Jeremy Lin and Kevin Love. In the east, notable snubs were Dwight Howard, Rajon Rondo, Damian Lillard, and DeAndre Jordan.

Considering the growing number of players the NBA has right now, such isn't surprising. And like previous All-Star games, there will always be criticism following.

And of course, the fans and players alike were unhappy with the snub. Of the ones mentioned that were left out, there are some who have some right to complain, while others have simply not been performing.

Pau Gasol was someone who deserved to be in there, same with Kemba Walker. But if one looks at their games, consistency could be something that left them out. The same goes for Love, who has drawn his share of inconsistency on the Cavs' end.

In the West, Rajon Rondo honestly deserved a spot for his splendid quarterbacking right now for the Kings. But seeing the guards he had to contend with, the odds of him making it were simply not good.

Dwight Howard and Dirk Nowitzki would have been shoe-ins, but their games haven't exactly been impressive compared to previous years.

Bicker as most would do, this is the final roster; players and fans will just have to deal with it.

Here is the official list of reserves for each squad.
