NBA Free Agency Rumors: Kevin Love likely to re-sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers

Kevin Love is one of the high profile names starting July 1 and a lot of teams will be trying their luck to convince the All Star forward to join them. But will Love be seriously leaving a club which almost gave him his wish – an NBA ring?

Love was not much help in the NBA Finals but much of that was because he got hurt in the first round against the Boston Celtics. One wonders how the Cavs would have fared with a healthy Love and Kyrie Irving.

All that is of course water under the bridge and it is time to move on. The Cavs have already signified their intentions of re-signing Love and it looks like such has been in the works even before Love opted out of his current contract.

According to a report by Brian Windhorst of ESPN, the Cavs have already made preliminary plans to offer Love a five-year deal which would be in excess of $110 million.

Though he fell to a shoulder injury, such seems to have had no effect on the Cavs' plans of keeping the All Star forward. It remains to be seen however if it will indeed be a five-year deal considering that big salary hike due on 2016.

It is widely believed that most free agents will avoid a long-term deal until 2016. A safe guess is that most free agents will be looking to sign short-term deals, maybe two years at maximum.

Teams such as the Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics are expected to present their piece to Love and it will be interesting to see if they could sway Love to jump the Cavalier bandwagon.

Lebron James also opted out but made it clear that he isn't going anywhere. Could Love not be far behind?

Both are not exactly the closest of buddies and claim that their pool hangout in Los Angeles was nothing. Then again, one cannot help but think that the two did talk about something like maybe another run at the NBA Finals if Love stays?
