The New York Knicks recently lost Kurt Rambis as coach with Jeff Hornacek taking over. However, the team is not ready to let go of their former mentor just yet.

There are rumors that Hornacek is in talks with Rambis about the latter joining his coaching staff as he will be of great help when it comes to strengthening the team's triangle offense.

The new Knicks coach does not feel awkward having his predecessor on board too so Rambis' days in the Knicks coaching board may not be all over.

"It would probably be more awkward if I didn't know Kurt, but I do know Kurt from our playing days,'' Hornacek said after a formal press conference (via the New York Post.)

"We talked about a lot of things. How if we kept him on, what his role would be. It was a good talk... I know Kurt pretty well. We'll continue to talk and if it works out, we'll figure it out then," he went on to say.

For now, nothing has been set in stone yet, but it looks like it won't be long before the return of Rambis to the Knicks will be made official.

In other related news, the Knicks will be one of the many teams set to fight hard in the upcoming NBA trade. According to Daily Knicks, it would be remiss for the team not to pursue Kevin Durant of Oklahoma City Thunder.

There are a lot of teams that will be going for Durant during the NBA free agency, but the said publication believes that the NBA superstar has to go with the Knicks, which would skyrocket the team to the pool of contenders.

Durant is the type of basketballer who needs no introduction, with his records set to do all the talking. This alone is the only reason why the Knicks will have to pursue him endlessly, despite speculations that it will be to no avail.

It is being said that Knicks going for Durant in the NBA trade will be a futile attempt. Although this is what circumstances are showing right now, Daily Knicks believes that the team should still wholeheartedly fight to get him on board.
