NBA trade rumors 2015: Dwight Howard headed to Atlanta Hawks?

Dwight Howard has been a far cry from the 6-foot-11-inch "Superman" that everyone saw when he was still an Orlando Magic and it seems it will stay that way over at Houston.

Ever since he left the Magic for the Lakers years back, Howard hasn't really figured prominently. Although a lot of that is blamed on injuries, the fact remains that the big man is struggling playing second fiddle to recognized franchise players.

He played backup to Kobe Bryant with the Los Angeles Lakers and is obviously doing the same now with James Harden in Houston. Overshadowed or not, Howard may have to choose soon on what he wants — fame or championship?

Choosing to be the top dog will, of course, depend on where he ends up. A team where he could land in is the Atlanta Hawks.

Everyone knows that the Hawks made a miraculous run last season and experience was their only downfall in the postseason wars. With a run-and-gun style of play, Howard can still keep up with the younger players over there, but his post-up game could certainly come in handy as well.

That and, of course, the defensive presence he brings could be what the Hawks are lacking. But are the Rockets sold to the idea?

It may depend on what the Rockets get in return. It could include Al Horford and probably someone else. Right now, the Hawks seem to be fine with their roster. But an opportunity to grab Howard could be tempting.

Although he has been a shade of his old self, a change in environment could be beneficial to DH12. The Hawks could be that team but then again, there are other teams who may be interested in case Howard makes public that he wants out.

At 30, Howard still has a lot of years ahead, although his back and knee problems may be a concern. And such could be a point for consideration once his contract reaches its climax in Houston.
