NBA trade rumors 2016: Blake Griffin almost got dealt to the Denver Nuggets

The Los Angeles Clippers have continued to reiterate that Blake Griffin is not on the trading block, but a recent report claims that the Clips did try to dangle the All-Star forward along with Lance Stephenson to the Denver Nuggets.

The Nuggets were among the teams linked to the troubled slam-dunking forward in what could have been a multiplayer trade that would have involved Kenneth Faried, Danilo Gallinari, Will Barton and Nikola Jovic, according to ESPN's Chris Broussard

The point of contention now is who really called who. The part where the Nuggets were inquiring about Griffin is nothing new, but hearing that it was actually the Clippers who were trying to deal him is something new.

Capping it all off is the fact that the Nuggets were the ones who rescinded the trade, citing the fact that Griffin will be a free agent after this season. There is also the fact that Denver is not too keen on releasing its young bunch, and Griffin is the only one who seems to interest them and not Lance Stephenson.

Head coach Doc Rivers expectedly denied any trade involving Griffin despite the off-court troubles which resulted in him taking more time off.

It was that unfortunate incident wherein Griffin had an altercation with the team's assistant equipment manager that spurred all trade talks. That and, of course the fact that Griffin has hardly made any headway leading the Clippers to the National Basketball Association (NBA) Finals have brought out concerns that it may be time to look for another forward who can do so.

With the NBA trade deadline ending soon, it seems that Griffin will be staying put in Los Angeles unless a blockbuster trade surprises basketball fans soon.

Wondering whether the trade rumors are true or not could end up in futility as the regular season resumes this coming Thursday.
