NBA trade rumors 2016: Rudy Gay unfazed, plans to focus on playing basketball

Rudy Gay is pretty much aware that the Sacramento Kings are seemingly trying to find a way to deal him. The last potential deal would have seen him move over to the New Orleans Pelicans, but it seems such will no longer happen.

The Pelicans have opted to wait and see what their chances are for the 2016 National Basketball Association (NBA) Draft, which indicates that Ryan Anderson will likely stay put.

Ironically, Anderson has been making strides as of late and perhaps another point why the Pelicans have foregone any possible trade talks involving him and Gay.

As far as the power forward is concerned, he is still a potent offensive sock. In fact he was the reason why the Kings escaped the Utah Jazz last time out. In essence, he is an asset armed with explosive firepower but it is evident that the Kings want someone who can convert from the outside to free up the middle.

Gay says that he is unperturbed with the trade talks and sums it all up as part of a day's work. He didn't elaborate on what the future brings or if he is open to playing for another team. As far as he is concerned, Gay will just do what he is paid to do — play ball.

The NBA trade deadline is still about a month away so anything can happen between now and then. Regardless, his contributions will certainly be valued.

At the moment, the Kings are toting a 17–23 record in the Western Conference and do have a legitimate shot at making the playoffs.

Rajon Rondo and DeMarcus Cousins are leading the way but any contribution coming from Gay will certainly be a big boost until (and if ever) the Kings find a suitable trade partner willing to take him in, unless the Kings also retract plans of unloading him
