The Minnesota Timberwolves have placed veteran guard Mo Williams on the trading block and several teams are said to be studying the possibility of acquiring the NBA vet. Among the teams that have reportedly expressed interest in Williams are the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Los Angeles Clippers and just lately, the Detroit Pistons.

Williams has missed the last three games of the T'Wolves but is expected to be back in Minnesota's game against the Dallas Mavericks. However, his injury is not the reason on why the Wolves are placing him on the block.

Apparently, a rebuilding Minnesota club doesn't see Williams fitting into its future plans. While Williams has been turning in good numbers, his efforts have not necessarily turned things around for the floundering Timberwolves who are at the bottom of the Western Conference with a 8-40 mark.

With the NBA trade deadline fast approaching (February 19), the Cavs, Clippers, Heat and Pistons could put Williams to good use.

Williams stands to be a good addition to the lineups of the said squad who are in need of veteran guard to provide the necessary support at the backcourt.

But as far as the Pistons are concerned, acquiring Williams would be a big help after Brandon Jennings fell to an injury.

Intriguing of the teams of course is the Cleveland Cavaliers. It will be recalled that Williams criticized Lebron James for leaving the ballclub back in 2010. James left for South Beach but made a surprising return in the off season.

The Heat could use Williams as well with Dwyane Wade in and out of sick bay. The Heat are in search of backup players and Williams could be a perfect choice. But that would mean trading one of their existing players which rumors say could be Norris Cole.

With the trade deadline weeks away, it may all boil down to which team could provide the best offer in terms of cash, player/s and future picks.
