The Knicks are planning to create the ideal lineup this year, and who better to strengthen the new roster than the former NBA MVP Derrick Rose?

Derrick Rose, current point guard for the Chicago Bulls and former NBA MVP, is looking very much like a potential winning pick for the New York Knicks, since the new head manager Steve Mills and head coach Jeff Hornacek are targeting him to upgrade their team's point guard position. According to Bleacher Report, the two are involved in internal talks for whether the Bulls are willing to trade Rose or not, and with whom.

ESPN mentions that Rose is going to be a free agent this coming season, and it looks like the Chicago Bulls might just let him go since he has apparently been too vocal about his salary cap and his next contract. On the other hand, they can backup the team well if they aim for Jimmy Butler instead, since the player is planning to remain in the state and improve the backcourt with Rose on the team.

According to Oregon Live, Rose is already due over $21 million in 2016-17, which is his final year. Jimmy Butler isn't going to be a stable player either, since he is apparently getting involved in trade talks with the Timberwolves as well. Sportsrageous reports that Butler is currently more valuable, being the one who has gotten the NBA All-Star title in the last two years, compred to Rose, who has been plagued with injuries over the past few years.

The Knicks were not able to makes the playoffs in the previous season, so it would be a good idea for them to rebuild their team with fresh names that have stronger potential and let go of those who are not interested in staying with the team.
