Despite the numerous rumors that Kevin Durant will sign a new contract to keep him with the Oklahoma City Thunder, a report from Clipper Holics reports that there is still a chance that the L.A. Clippers will pursue a possible trade deal where they will give up Blake Griffin to get Durant.

The report states that Lucas Hann of Clips Nation broke the news on Twitter, stating that the Clippers are indeed very interested in trading for Durant. However, if this were to push through, the Clippers would need to give a much better offer than what Oklahoma City is already giving and the team may not be able to do so.

As stated in the report, the Oklahoma City Thunder performed better this past season and almost made it to the finals but eventually lost to the Golden State Warriors. Not only are the Thunder the most successful team for Durant to be a part of right now but the report also claims he has personal attachments to the area, making it difficult for other teams to convince him to leave.

It is also further explained in the report that the Thunder are planning on keeping the core team members intact given how successful this build has been thus far. According to the report the Thunder are highly unlikely to separate Blake Griffin, Chris Paul and DeAndre Jordan due to how well they work together on the hardfloor.

There is also the fact that the Clippers are not the only teams courting Durant. As previously reported, the New York Knicks are also interested in grabbing Durant and they may have a better deal to offer Durant as well as a better trade for the Thunder.

The only issue the teams will be facing are the salary caps and it is stated that the Thunder are willing to pay the maximum to keep Durant on their side.
