NBA trade rumors: Mavericks set eyes on Ama're Stoudemire

Could Ama're Stoudemire be reunited with Tyson Chandler in Dallas?

To recall, Chandler and Stoudemire once formed a pretty formidable frontline over in New York. But the problem was Stoudemire was constantly on the injured list. And despite his recurring bout to injuries, the Dallas Mavericks have surprising shown interest in Stoudemire.

So how did this all come about? Aside from his injury bug problems, Stoudemire did say that he may consider accepting the buyout from the Knicks. Although that remains to be seen, probably after the NBA All Star weekend, the Mavs are apparently trying to beef up their lineup after filling up the gaps in their rotation.

The Mavs have been known to take in the best available talent although Stoudemire's bill of health should become a concern. He has battled knee problems and has yet to finish a complete season ever since Ama're transferred to the Knicks from the Phoenix Suns.

If a deal is struck, Stoudemire could possibly play back-up to resident star Dirk Nowitzki.

Nothing is definite at this point and all remains up in the air. But it all starts on whether the Knicks will try to buy out Stoudemire and release him from the current lineup.

The forward is someone that many believe the Knicks should try and let go, something that goes way back ever since his injuries ate up most of his season. Landing on the Mavericks roster could be a good fit, especially considering that his minutes may not be that heavy should Nowitzki stay healthy.

Should the Mavs fail to land him, Dallas could go after another vet in Jermaine O' Neal.

O' Neal himself has been hampered with injuries but with playing time expected to be lighter, O'Neal fits in perfectly as well.

No official word yet on who the Mavs would take in but with the All Star Break a week away, something could develop from here until that time.
