As reported by the ESPN, the Houston Rockets were initially hoping to snag free agent Kevin Durant away from the Oklahaoma City Thunder, but in the end Durant did not opt to meet with the team. Despite this, the Rockets have been able to spend their slots and money to recruit Ryan Anderson and Eric Gordon.

Anderson, a power forward, was reportedly one of the players that the Rockets have been after for some time. He has a 36.6 percent on his three-point shots during the 2015-2016 season and it is noted that coach Mike D'Antonini focuses a lot on three-point shots during heavy offense. Anderson is also known for his efficient free throw shots. 

However, Anderson has notably not been playing too many games as he did suffer from a severe neck injury, sports hernia and an MCL sprain. While he may not be as powerful as the Rockets aspire for, he may still be able to deal a lot of offfensive assistance when on the hardfloor.

Gordon, a shooting guard, is noted to be a very good offensive player when he is healthy. The only issue is that throughout his entire eight-year career he has never played a full 82-game run due to health concerns. During his career in the NBA he has had surgery for both his knees, suffered shoulder complications and broke the same ring finger twice while playing for the New Orleans last season.

Despite this, he is still being paid $53 million for his new contract with the Houston Rockets. Anderson will be paid $80 million. Neither player is notable for defense but they are some of the Rockets' new power players in terms of offense. As noted by the report, this will only matter if their health allows them to even play during the next season.

According to the report, the Rockets are quite pleased with their acquisitions despite the risks and the two players will more than make up for the fact that they did not acquire Kevin Durant.
