The San Antonio Spurs are in the middle of rebuilding and National Basketball Association (NBA) trade rumors hint that Anthony Davis is part of their plan to get back into contender shape.

According to reports, the New Orleans Pelicans mishandled the power forward and are no longer able to give him the legroom to make use of his talents and so a trade might be a way to go.

The Spurs needs a man like Davis more than ever after Tim Duncan's retirement and the impending exit of Manu Ginobili, who recently announced his departure from international basketball.

It is being said that the upcoming season will be his last and the Spurs will again be one superstar down. Michael Erler of Pounding the Rock advises fans and also San Antonio to "enjoy him next year."

"Take in every dribble, every pass, every shot, every grin or grimace from the bench. It's not going to last much longer, and it's amazing that he's still going strong," he wrote.

According to Ecumenical News, the Spurs almost lost Ginobili last year, when he seriously thought of leaving NBA. It is reportedly because the numbers he put out have been depleting and young talents continue to emerge.

However, San Antonio's attempt to get back into shape might not be with Davis after all. Hoops Habit points out that the Spurs are building their roster and basing their offseason business on the superstar. From the looks of it, there's nothing that will take away Davis from the Pelicans.

Meanwhile, it looks like the Spurs will be getting more out of Tony Parker, who intends to conclude his basketball career with a bang.

"I want to end my Spurs career on a high note. I want to play five more years," Parker told USA Today Sports. Like Ginobili, the 34-year-old is done with international competition.
