'NCIS LA' season 8 spoilers, news: Granger's dark past to be explored; Mole mystery to be solved
Now that the team has learned that there's a mole among them, "NCIS: Los Angeles" season 8 will finally uncover the identity of the traitor.
Speaking to TV Line, showrunner R. Scott Gemmill revealed that this issue "comes back to bite us in the a— and the team has a limited time to solve it before they all get canned."
As the mole mystery gets more out of control in "NCIS: LA" season 8, one person will come clean. The revelation will impact everyone especially Sam (LL Cool J) and his family.
As teased by Eric Christian Olsen on Buddy TV, the initial episodes of the new season will feel like a "freight train" and this is due to the growing mystery of the mole.
Meanwhile, the new season will also see Granger (Miguel Ferrer) become a bit more overprotective of the team amidst the threat. This will especially be shown in the initial episodes of the new season.
"You're going to love Granger in the first two episodes more than you've ever loved him before. He is the voice of the audience as all this stuff goes down," Olsen said during the interview.
"He steps in and defends the team," the actor went on to say. It remains to be seen if Granger has direct connection to the mole. But Gemmill teased that his past will be explored in "NCIS: LA" season 8.
The EP went so far as to say that Granger's history has "some darkness to it." How it will be delved into, the return of Callen's (Chris O'Donnell) father will jumpstart that.
Whether or not Granger's past has something to do with the betrayal that the team suffers in "NCIS: LA" season 8 remains to be seen, although spoilers tease it is possible.
"NCIS: LA" season 8 premieres Sunday, Oct. 2 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
