'NCIS' season 12 spoilers: Delilah returns in episode 18 'Status Update'

After a one week hiatus, "NCIS" returns on March 24 with episode 18, "Status Update." Along with the show's comeback on air is the return of Margo Harshman's Delilah Fielding.

The official synopsis of the episodes states: "After the body of a thief is found in a Marine's house, NCIS discovers the calling card of a terror group Delilah and the Department of Defense have been tracking."

Delilah's last appearance was in the previous season's "Page Not Found," and it was shown that the character would be sent to Dubai, perhaps to be written off the show or at least to explain her temporary absence from further episodes. However, the new episode's synopsis indicates she will be playing a bigger role — at least for this episode. It will also put to question her relationship with Agent Timothy McGee.

In the last episode, they were together and Delilah accepted the house key McGee gave her. This indicated that she did have plans of staying with him and pushing their relationship further after her assignment in Dubai, officially ending his stint with Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette).

Not only does this put Delilah together with McGee but it also puts the NCIS team together with the Department of Defense. Whether or not the terrorist group will play a part in the series' finale has yet to be seen.

The episode may also determine whether or not Harshman's character will continue to make an appearance in the show or if the show runners will be writing her off by ending her relationship with McGee after the events of this episode.

"Status Update" was directed by Holly Dale and penned by Christopher J. Waild. Ellen Hollman, Jay Ali, Lane Garrison, and Scott Speiser are all set to appear as guest stars alongside Margo Harshman.
