'NCIS LA' season 6 spoilers: Will LL Cool J's Sam die in 'Expiration Date'?

The upcoming episode of "NCIS: Los Angeles" will hit every fan in the heart. Sam is going to be in a dangerous situation and there's no certainty that he will make it out alive. How does he end up getting badly hurt?

In episode 16 titled "Expiration Date," Sam and Deeks track down a spy, but when they get to the location, Sam gets shot by a sniper. The official synopsis goes:

"When Callen and Sam are tasked with apprehending a spy contracted by the CIA, Sam will get shot and the team is going to enlist the help of Thapa, the elite Nepali soldier from their past, to help to find the shooter. Also, Kensi and Deeks will have their first official argument."

The official promo for the episode shows Sam spitting blood after he gets shot. It is almost as if he is already dying there. The concern gets bigger when Deeks says at the end of the promo, "Convince me that my partner didn't die for nothing."

However, CBS released two sneak peeks for the episode, with the first showing how Sam and Deeks end up with the spy, and the next sneak peek showing Sam in the hospital. So, it looks like he will undergo treatment and a special doctor will even be flown in to treat him.

So, will Sam finally meet his expiration date? It is highly unlikely that actor LL Cool J will just go out like this. It has been six years since Sam and Deeks have been working as partners and it doesn't look like this will be the end of the road for them. As CarterMatt said, fans will be throwing pitchforks at CBS if that happens.

Apart from the Sam drama, the episode will be about Deeks working with an elite Nepali soldier to find out who shot Sam. And then there's the Kensi-and-Deeks romance where the two will finally butt heads in this episode.

"NCIS: Los Angeles" will air "Expiration Date" on Tuesday, Feb. 23, on CBS.
