A big event might have a major effect on Kensi's (Daniela Ruah) life at the beginning of "NCIS: LA" season 8.

Showrunner John Peter Kousakis hinted on Twitter that a life-altering event will unfold once the series returns this fall. Based on the statement, the NCIS junior field agent might be facing a major medical condition at the start of the season.

The showrunner did not reveal the reason why Kensi will be in the middle of a major crossroad. But there could be a possibility that it could affect her relationship with Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen). Could this mean that the series will incorporate Ruah's real-life pregnancy in season 8? She may also be involved in a major medical crisis that could sideline her from the team's operations in the upcoming episodes of the series while she takes her maternity leave.

Viewers of the long-running police procedural drama series would also like to find out if Kensi and Deeks will finally level up their relationship in the next season of "NCIS: LA." In an interview with TV Guide back in April, executive producer R. Scott Gemmill hinted that Deeks could possibly propose to Kensi in season 8.

"We will not see, I don't think, a proper proposal until next season, because we have an idea for how to do that that I want to play out," Gemmill stated. "I already know how we're going to do it. It's just, the fans have waited long enough that we want it to be worth the wait."

The couple will also talk about the possibility of having a child if they will be engaged. But this could be a problem for the two driven NCIS officers.

"It's tricky, because neither one of them wants to give up their career, and can you have two parents in life-and-death situations on a daily basis? Is that proper parenting, or is that negligence in some way?" the executive producer said.

"NCIS: LA" season 8 premieres on CBS on Sunday, Oct. 2.
