In the next episode of "'NCIS: Los Angeles," agents G. Callen (Chris O'Donnell) and Sam Hanna (LL Cool J) investigate the murder of a Navy Lieutenant suspected of smuggling classified intel.

The trailer for the upcoming installment titled "Assets" was released recently and showed a dead woman in an indoor pool who happens to be a Navy Lieutenant. The investigation into the deceased person's past leads to a deadly conspiracy which may head to possible war. Apparently the Lieutenant may have been smuggling classified surveillance briefs into Los Angeles and selling them to a foreign buyer.

The team finds themselves in trouble when Hanna gets shot at with a machine gun by a mysterious assailant. He fires back with his pistol behind a table to fend off the shooter. "That could explain why she was killed," Hanna says in the last scene, as he tries to piece together the murder puzzle. Apparently, other people wanted to get the intel and killed the Lieutenant for it.

It remains to be seen what the murdered Lieutenant was doing with highly classified intel and if she sold it off intentionally to foreign buyers.

In the last episode, Callen and Hanna raced against time to stop a bomb from detonating in Los Angeles. The large explosive device was in an ambulance which was being driven by an Islamic terrorist. However, the duo was able to knock out the driver and take control of the van.

Hanna did not have enough time to deactivate the ticking time bomb so Callen decided to drive the van over the edge and into the water in order to depressurize the bomb mechanism and stop it from exploding. The team managed to save the day and bring the Islamic terrorists to justice.

"NCIS: Los Angeles" season 9 episode 2 will air on Sunday, Oct. 8 at 9 p.m. EDT on CBS.
