A lot of speculations yield both good news and bad news for the upcoming third season of "NCIS: New Orleans" when it premieres next month.

According to MNR Daily, the latest season is set to accommodate new characters, with Sebastian Lund's (Rob Kerkovich) mother to be introduced at an early time within this season. Sylvia Lund will be played by Wendie Malick, who is described to be a loving yet overprotective parent, which could get interesting considering the fact that Sebastian got some of his eccentric quirks from his mother.

As such, a lot of fans are expecting a whole new level of eccentricity from Sylvia, since she will most likely be engrossed thoroughly in keeping her children healthy and safe. Sebastian's age is no issue, as she will most likely not care about whether or not he is too old for parental pampering, since she thinks that he is still her young boy. With this direction, it can make for embarrassing moments for Sebastian should his mother decide to drop by at his workplace.

Furthermore, Ecumenical News notes that Vanessa Ferlito will be joining the new season of "NCIS" by the time it premieres this fall. She is given the role of an FBI Special agent and it is rumored that she will be staying on a more permanent basis due to the fact that she is going to be Meredith Brody's replacement.

Reportedly, Ferlito's character comes in after Brody got involved with a huge scandal, which ultimately resulted to her resignation. This new character will have the case investigated alongside Dwayne Pride (played by Scott Bakula). As such, within this time period, Pride will offer the agent a job on the NCIS team.

Regardless, fans are still speculating whether or not Ferlito will be able to replace McLellan's role once "NCIS: New Orleans" premieres by Sept. 20.
