'NCIS' season 13 finale spoilers: Michael Weatherly's character says farewell as NCIS joins MI6 and FBI manhunt

CBS

After 13 years on "NCIS," actor Michael Weatherly is officially leaving the show, with the two-part finale of season 13 being his final appearance. According to the official synopsis of season 13 episode 24, from TV.com, he and the rest of the NCIS team will be working with the FBI and MI6 to hunt down a rogue British spy.

According to the synopsis, the British spy, Agent Jacob Scott (Vince Nappo) has been responsible for killing both former and current agents and is likely on a mission to destroy the system from within. Back in episode 22, he was responsible for shooting down FBI Agent Tobias Fornell (Joe Spano).

The finale episodes will also see "24" alumni Sarah Clarke as FBI Agent Tess Monroe and actor Duane Henry as the MI6 agent named Clayton Reeves. Together they will aid the NCIS team in hunting down Jacob Scott as the latter leaves a long trail of bodies behind.

Fans speculate that this means the two-episode finale may be a very bloody and violent end to the season and that at some point DiNozzo will come across an obstacle that tears him apart so brutally that he will need to step away from his duties from the rest of the NCIS team for some time.

In regards to DiNozzo's departure, show runner Gary Glasberg stated in an interview with TV Guide that "there are outside influences. Something that has a mammoth impact on him - and understandably, would take that significant an impact to have him step away from his 'NCIS' family."

Glasberg also confirmed that Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) will be mentioned in the finale and that Gibbs (Mark Harmon) may be asking around looking for her, teasing the character's potential return that may tie into the main plot of season 14 and 15, both of which have already been green lit by the studios.

"NCIS" season 13 episode 24 will air this May 17.
