'NCIS' season 13 finale spoilers: Synopsis reveals epic exit for Michael Weatherly

Michael Weatherly's exit in "NCIS" season 13 finale will be legendary. CBS

Michael Weatherly's Agent Tony DiNozzo will have a killer send-off in the highly anticipated "NCIS" season 13 finale, which is very aptly titled "Family First." The synopsis of the episode recently released by CBS gives a clue on how DiNozzo will be written off.

In Weatherly's final episode in the most watched drama, the NCIS team will be conducting an international manhunt for a British undercover agent on the loose with the help of the FBI and MI6.

The criminal sets his eyes on former and current agents of the said units, which may end up DiNozzo in the dangerous fugitive's crosshairs.

With the "NCIS" season 13 titled that way, it would seem that DiNozzo will be given a heroic exit, which fans would deem a proper and well-deserved way to let go of a character who has been there since the beginning.

The manhunt that will mark Weatherly's exit from the show will first take shape in the upcoming episode of "NCIS" season 13, "Return to Sender." The synopsis for this episode hints that it will lay the groundwork to an epic storyline.

Gibbs and Senior FBI Agent T.C. Fornell unite after two British prisoners, including a former spy, escape and arrive stateside via a shipping container. Also, McGee is busy apartment hunting and determined to find out how DiNozzo purchased his lavish place.

How DiNozzo will be written off remains to be seen but "NCIS" executive producer Gary Glasberg told TV Line that "lots of planning" went into putting together a plot that will best honor Weatherly in his exit.

"We're really trying to give everybody something that leaves them satisfied," Glasberg promised. Some media outlets believe that DiNozzo's realization about his life being a "charade" in the previous "NCIS" season 13 episode hints how the character's exit will happen.

The "NCIS" season 13 finale brings into play the casting of "24" alum Sarah Clarke and Duane Henry, who will debut in season-ender as an FBI agent and an MI6 agent respectively. Both actors have the option to return to "NCIS" season 14 as series regulars.
