The aftermath of Tony DiNozzo's (Michael Weatherly) exit will soon unravel when "NCIS" returns to CBS for season 14.

At the end of season 13, DiNozzo decided to step back from the dangerous life of an NCIS senior field agent for the sake of his and Ziva David's (Coté de Pablo) daughter, Tali, whom he met after learning that Ziva died when her farmhouse was bombed in Israel.

Scottie Thompson, who portrays the role of DiNozzo's love interest Jeanne Benoit, admitted that she still has no idea how the series will deal with losing one of the show's integral members.

"It will be interesting, because he is such a huge figure in the show, such an entertaining character that brings a lot of the comedy -- so if they can bring another person in who has that sort of charisma that he had, I think it will help," Thompson said in an interview with Mirror. "But the rest of the cast is all so amazing, and they're all going to continue rocking it."

But despite losing DiNozzo, the series will move forward after showrunner Gary Glasberg signed up to create three more seasons of the show.

Deadline reported that Glasberg will remain as "NCIS" showrunner as well as executive producer of its spin-off, "NCIS: New Orleans." This ensures that the seven-time most watched broadcast drama from CBS will continue.

Two additional characters are expected to add more drama in season 14, with the introduction of Sarah Clarke (Tess Monroe) and Duane Henry (Clayton Reeves) to the team. But fans are still hoping to see Tony drop by for a visit in one of the show's future episodes.

Filming for "NCIS" season 14 is expected to start in the middle of July, while the series is slated to return this fall.
