While fans are still trying to accept the fact that Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) has left the squad in the heartbreaking season finale of "NCIS" season 13, executive Gary Glasberg has revealed that there are more things in store for the show in season 14.

In the recently concluded season, Tony decided that he wants to live a safer, more peaceful life after learning that he has a daughter with Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) after she died due to the fatal mortar attack in her farmhouse in Israel.

This has been a difficult moment for the fans of the long-running police procedural series to process, but Glasberg admitted on Twitter that they also had a hard time coming up with the best way to let go of Weatherly's character.

"For months the writers have been discussing with me (and Michael) what would motivate Tony DiNozzo to leave his NCIS family?" Glasberg stated in one of his posts on the NCIS' official Twitter account. "It would have to be something so powerful no one would disagree."

He said that they spent days in the writers' room and did a lot of research by talking to real federal agents to give Tony the best reason to leave the job that he loves the most. But when they came up with the idea of having a child to live for, they all felt that no one will hinder the well-loved character to wish for a peaceful life with his and Ziva's daughter. Even if Tony is no longer with the squad, Glasberg said that they are brewing something special for season 14. But he urged the fans to watch the season 13 finale once again and listen closely to Tony and Leroy Gibbs's (Mark Harmon) final conversation. "Hear what's being said. Pay attention. Tony DiNozzo is at peace. And he and Tali are moving on, searching for answers and happiness, just like the team has to move on as well. In Gibbs' basement Gibbs and Tony agree on something very important, 'You gotta do what you do gotta do. And you gotta believe what you gotta believe.' Thanks for believing,'" he said.

"NCIS" season 14 will also feature the entry of Tess Monroe (Sarah Clarke) and Clayton Reeves (Duane Henry) into the team, but CBS has yet to announce the premiere date of the upcoming season.
