After thirteen seasons on NCIS, Special Agent Tony Dinozzo (Michael Weatherly) has finally left the show. As one of the core members of Agent Gibbs' (Mark Harmonl)  team, fans are expecting that this would definitely affect the show when it returns to CBS on September 20.

Weatherly aired his final episode last season to helm his own show on CBS entitled Bull, which was loosely inspired by Dr. Phil McGraw's early life, TV Guide reported.

According to a report by Auburn Pub, the gaping hole left by Dinozzo on the team will have to be filled by someone and this will play as one of the storylines for the season. Agent McGee will also have to step in as the senior agent, which he will have to adjust to since he and Dinozzo have different specializations.

Wilmer Valderama is also said to have signed on for the cast as Special Agent Nick Torres, a field agent who vanished after a deep cover assignment and was thought to be dead. When he finally resurfaces in Washington, D.C, he is assigned to the team of Gibbs.

In an interview, Valderama explained that he will not be a replacement for Dinozzo despite the timing of his arrival.

"In my meetings with [executive producer] Gary Glasberg, the network and the studio, I wanted to come in and play something that the universe of NCIS had never seen. I wanted to create a character that felt refreshing but was disruptive. We came up with Nick Torres, an undercover guy," he said to Parade.

He added that its interesting to see his character as he interacts with Gibbs who will see his potential and shape him from becoming a black sheep to a star player in the team.

Nick Torres will not be the only newbie in the team as they will be joined by NCIS Special Agent Alexandra "Alex" Quinn (Jennifer Esposito) and MI6 Officer Clayton Reeves (Duane Henry).
