Developer Ghost Games and publisher Electronic Arts promised free content for their reboot of the "Need for Speed" original racing title. Now, players of the remake have gotten the first free content in the Legends DLC, which rolled out this week.

According to a post on the official website, the Legends update introduced new features as well as brought back some old ones. The post highlighted that part of the content was the return of Eddie. Those who are new to the franchise were reminded by iDigitalTimes of the "Need for Speed: Underground" antagonist, and in his return, Eddie was accompanied by Melissa.

The two will once again check out every racer in Ventura Bay, organizing a series of knock-out events. The highlight of these "Eddie missions" is a chance to race against Eddie himself with his most prized possession, a Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec (1999).

In a report by Games Radar, it is stated that a most welcome tweak for the Legends update, at least for hardcore players, is the adjustment of the number of phone calls. The announcement itself on the "Need for Speed" website hinted that this tweak was a most requested one among fans, saying that, "Since launch we've picked up your messages around the telephone and the frequency of calls - based on this feedback we have made a number of improvements to the phone system in general, including an option to mute phone calls entirely."

Aside from a returning anti-hero and acknowledging fan feedback, the Legends DLC for the new "Need for Speed" also added a number of new items to the roster, including almost 113 new customization options for selected vehicles that raise the reputation cap to level 70 and each new level unlocking new decals, at least three new Achievements and Trophies and the addition of new challenges and daily rewards.
