'Need for Speed Most Wanted' now free; 'Showcase' update for 'Need for Speed' takes off

"Need for Speed" fans would love to know that "Need for Speed Most Wanted" can now be downloaded for free on Origin as part of the Electronic Arts On the House program. The freebie will be available for a limited time only so make sure to take advantage of it.

Meanwhile, those who have the latest installment in the racing franchise are in for a treat. A huge load of content and features drop today on "Need for Speed." The latest game update called "Showcase" comes with a whole host of new goodies and tweaks that are sure to improve gamers' racing experience.

For starters, the photo mode called the Snapshot Pro will be made available. With it, players can take a photo of their cars for the world to see. The tool comes with various custom settings and filters to aid them in taking a stellar photo that best showcases their ride.

In addition, wrap sharing will now be possible in "Need for Speed," with players now able to share their wrap creation and even browse and download other wraps created and made shareable by other members of the game's community.

The "Showcase" update will also be bulking up the game significantly by adding more than 100 customization items. In fact, 11 cars such as the Ford Focus RS, Mazda MX5 (2015) and Chevrolet Camaro Z28 are all getting new parts.

Speaking of customization, license plates just got much better in "Need for Speed." Racers can now personally design their license plates. They can choose from an assortment of backgrounds from previous games in the franchise such as Fairview or Rockport.

The multiplayer mode of the game also gets some love. With the new "Competitive" option, players will be able to race against fellow gamers looking for cutthroat action. For those who would like to experience the game "as it is now," they can go for the "Alldrive" option.
