With the new "Need for Speed" game now available, people are now turning their attention to when downloadable content (DLC) for the racing title might arrive, and unfortunately, that may take a while.

There's still no official word yet from either Ghost Games or EA as to when DLC for the game might start being released.

With the game being released relatively recently, making DLC available now would simply be too soon, but fans should not fret as there appears to be big things in store for the new "Need for Speed" game.

In an interview with Videogamer, the game's executive producer, Marcus Nilsson, revealed that the team behind "Need for Speed" has "significant plans" in terms of its DLC.

Fans can reportedly expect the usual arrival of new cars coming to the game as DLC, although they should also expect other types of content to come down the line.

Nilsson ultimately stopped short of saying what kind of DLC he was talking about, but fans will learn more about it soon enough.

The good news is that when DLC for the new "Need for Speed" game does arrive, players will reportedly be getting it for free.

In an interview with Vice, the game's creative director, Craig Sullivan, revealed that as of now, there are no plans to offer any kind of paid DLC or microtransactions in the new "Need for Speed" title.

Sullivan went so far as to say that players "deserve" to receive free DLC, and he also mentioned that as it is presently constructed, "Need for Speed" does not even have a means collect payment from players for content.

Sullivan admitted that plans regarding free DLC and microtransactions could still change down the line, indicating that there is no telling how the situation might evolve in the future.

For now at least, players can still look forward to free content coming soon to "Need for Speed."
