'Need for Speed' PC release date delayed to 2016

The all-new "Need for Speed" racing title will be released on Nov. 3 in North America, and Nov. 5 for worldwide fans. However, the scheduled rollout hit a speed bump recently – the said release dates will only be for the console versions.

In a post on the official "Need for Speed" website, developer Ghost Games announced that the PC version of the rebooted title will not come out together with its PS4 and Xbox One versions. Instead, it will be desktop-bound sometime next year, with a spring release window.

According to the announcement, the game studio made the decision to push back and delay the release of "Need for Speed" for PC because of fan feedback. The developer said it agrees with the opinion that the title would be best released with an unlocked frame rate feature so as to take advantage of a gaming PC's more-than-adequate specs.

"This decision on PC gives us the necessary development time to increase the visuals that we can deliver on PC," Ghost Games said. "We will also include content updates that will have been released on console up to that time, making them available to all PC players from day one."

Meanwhile, the developer also announced that since the rebooted version of "Need for Speed" focuses more on online game content, the company will be conducting closed betas for the Xbox One and PS4 versions prior to their releases. The beta versions will test connection stability via dedicated servers set up for the players.

Ghost Games did not specify when fans can expect the betas to open, but since the title's console releases are already scheduled for November, players may expect the betas to open by next month.
