After EA Games announced that the long-running racing video game series "Need for Speed" will be rebooted this fall, several details about the new version of the game started to surface. Recently, Frostbite technical director Johan Andersson shared through Twitter some important information about the reboot.

According to Andersson's tweet, the new "Need for Speed" will have the same game engine as the soon-to-be released "Star Wars: Battlefront." The post also came with a new teaser for the game. But aside from that, there are not enough details provided about the full reboot version of one of the most successful video game franchises in the last two decades.

EA designated Ghost Games to create the full reboot of "Need for Speed" in their home studio in Gothenburg, Sweden. They are also responsible for creating the "Need for Speed: Rivals" which came out in 2013. In addition, GameSpot mentioned that the reboot will come out with several high-level features, as well as its signature "deep customization" for the automobiles. Players of the game will also have the opportunity to fill their garage with several highly-tuned vehicles that will come with the game.

PC Gamer also noted that the game developer is collaborating with popular automotive weblog Speedhunters to make the new "Need for Speed" more exciting, since the site can provide an extensive collection of renowned drivers, writers, and photographers from all over the world who can help come up with the most exhilarating Car Culture stories in various places.

In their press release, EA explained why they decided to bring back "Need for Speed" in a brand new reboot this year, saying, "With over 20 years of history in its rear view mirror, 'Need for Speed' returns with a reboot that delivers on what Need for Speed stands for - rich customization, authentic urban car culture, a nocturnal open world, and an immersive narrative that drives your NFS game."

The "Need for Speed" reboot is expected to be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC sometime this fall.
