Netflix May 2017 news: Streaming service provider releases new list of film and TV series titles for May

Summer movie season is just around the corner, and Netflix has a lot of movies and TV series in store for their subscribers for the month of May.

For the upcoming month, some of the highly-anticipated TV series will return for their next installments, including the fifth season of "House of Cards," the sophomore seasons of "Master of None" and "Sense8," the fourth installment of "Sherlock," the third season of the "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" and the third season of "Bloodline."

Aside from the return of the fan-favorite TV shows, the streaming service provider will also feature several critically acclaimed films beginning May 1. Some of the film titles include Tom Hank's classic 1994 film "Forrest Gump," the 2000 Academy Award-nominated film "Chocolat," and the 2016 comedy-drama "Don't Think Twice." The 2016 comedy film "Masterminds" will also come out on Netflix in the month of May.

In the latter part of the month, Netflix subscribers will also get to enjoy watching Quentin Tarantino's war film "Inglourious Basterds" featuring Brad Pitt and Christoph Waltz. The online streaming service provider will also make available the 2016 superhero movie "Doctor Strange" starring Benedict Cumberbatch in the upcoming month.

However, Netflix will also have to let go of some of its previous titles to give way to the new additions for May, including all the nine seasons of the medical comedy series "Scrubs," "Good Luck Charlie" seasons 1 to 4, and the culinary documentary "Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown" seasons 1 to 5.

The complete list of titles coming to Netflix on May 1 include the 2014-released "American Experience: The Big Burn," 2017's "American Experience: The Boys of '36," 2008's "Anvil! The Story of Anvil," 2016's "Blood on the Mountain," "Chaahat" that was released in 1996, "Chocolat," 2016's "Decanted," "Don't Think Twice," 2017's "Drifter," "Forrest Gump," the animated film "Happy Feet," the Netflix Original Film "In the Shadow of Iris," "Love" from 2015, the 2017 film "Losing Sight of Shore," "Malibu's Most Wanted" from 2003, the 2016-released "Nerdland," "Raja Hindustani" from 1996, 2014's "Richard Pryor: Icon," and the 2016-released "Under Arrest" season 5.

On the other hand, "Bodyguards: Secret Lives From the Watchtower," "Hija De La Laguna," Netflix's Original "Maria Bamford: Old Baby," and "Two Lovers and a Bear" will be released on May 2. Then, the second season of "Chelsea" will begin streaming every Friday on May 5, alongside the release of the Netflix Original Films including "Handsome: A Netflix Mystery Movie," "Kazoops!: Season 3," "Sense8: Season 2," "Simplemente Manu NNa," "Spirit: Riding Free: Season 1," "The Last Kingdom: Season 2," and "The Mars Generation."

Then, on May 6, "Cold War 2" and "When the Bough Breaks" will be released. It will be followed by "LoveTrue," "Stake Land II," and "The Host" on May 7.

On May 8, "Beyond the Gates" and "Hunter Gatherer" will be released, followed by the Netflix Original film "Norm Macdonald: Hitler's Dog, Gossip & Trickery," the first season of "Queen of the South," and "All We Had" on May 9.

Then, on May 10, "El apĆ³stata" and "The Adventure Club" will start streaming. It will be followed by the fifth season of "Switched at Birth," and "The Fosters" season 4 on May 11.

On May 12, several Netflix Original series will also start streaming, including the first season of "All Hail King Julien: Exiled," season 1 of "Anne with an E," "Get Me Roger Stone," "Master of None: Season 2," "Mindhorn," and "Sahara."

On May 15, Netflix will release "Command and Control," "Cave," "Lovesong," "Sherlock: Series 4," and "The Intent."

"Tracy Morgan: Staying Alive," "The Break-Up," and "The Place Beyond the Pines" will then start streaming on May 16, while "Royal Pains: Season 8" and the entire first season of "Riverdale" will come out on May 18.

Other Netflix Original series like "BLAME!," "Laerte-se," "The Keepers: Season 1," and "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Season 3" will be released on May 19, while "What's With Wheat" will become available on May 21.

"Inglorious Basterds" and "They Call Us Monsters" will be released on May 22, while "Hasan Minhaj: Homecoming King" and "Dig Two Graves" will be released on May 23.

"Southpaw," on the other hand, will be released on May 24, while "Believe," "Bloodline: Season 3," "I am Jane Doe," "Joshua: Teenage vs. Superpower," and "War Machine" are coming on May 26, followed by "Bunk'd: Season 2" on May 28.

On May 29, "Forever Pure" and "A New High" will be released. After that, Netflix will stream "F is for Family: Season 2," "House of Cards: Season 5," "Doctor Strange," "Masterminds," and "Sarah Silverman A Speck of Dust" starting May 30.
