Netflix December 2014 new movies: Holiday films to watch by Christmas

'Tis the season to be jolly and everyone should be singing their way until Christmas Day. But for those who prefer watching movies, Netflix keeps them company all throughout December. The network has just released its new movies for the holidays. So, what does the online streaming service has in store for its subscribers?

There is "Scrooged" featuring Bill Murray. This movie is a modern reboot of "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens. Murray plays the character Lumpy and he hates Christmas causing him to be rude to everyone. Three ghosts appear to him and changes him for the better.

"12 Dates of Christmas" from ABC Family is a romantic movie that stars Amy Smart and Mark-Paul Gosselaar. It's about finding love during the holidays.

There is "Happy Christmas" starting Anna Kendrick, Lena Dunham, Melanie Lynskey and Mark Webber. According to IBT, this movie is a story about a girl with self-destructive behavior.

"Christmas Cupid," starring Christina Milian, Ashley Benson and Chad Michael Murray, is about a workaholic publicist who finds love by Christmas with the help of a ghost.

"The Muppet Christmas Carol" is also an adaptation of "A Christmas Carol." In this movie, Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy are the stars.

"Nightmare Before Christmas" is a movie that gives Christmas a unique scary twist with Jack Skellington causing trouble in Halloweentown as Santa Claus.

"I'll be Home For Christmas" stars Jonathan Taylor Thomas and Jessica Biel. It's about a spoiled kid finding his way home for Christmas right after being stranded in a desert without any money.

"The Fitzgerald Family Christmas," starring Connie Britton, is a movie about a husband who's been gone for 20 years and suddenlyt returns to his family for the holidays.

In "The Christmas That Almost Wasn't," Santa Claus will have to figure out how to pay his rent. Otherwise, all the toys will be seized and Christmas will get cancelled.

"Radio City Christmas Spectacular" is a recording of the 2007 holiday hit show.

There's also "Christmas Bounty" starring Francia Raisa and Mike Mizanin. It's a story about a bounty hunter who hides her past from her fiancé.

The last is "A Country Christmas" and it's a movie about two kids trying to keep the holiday spirit before Christmas is banned. The movie also features country singers Rascal Flatts, Trace Adkins and Jay DeMarcus.
