Geralt of Rivia will soon be hunting and killing monsters (human metaphor or otherwise) in a series, as Netflix's show adaptation of "The Witcher" novels has made progress.

The first little step in the long road to production has been taken by scriptwriter Lauren Hissrich, who posted a photo on Twitter of her finishing the script for the pilot or first episode for "The Witcher." Granted that it was just a draft and still needs to be seen by the rest of the production executives, it is still a good indication that production might start soon for the series.

Due to this, Hissrich also announced that she would be taking a brief time-off to spend with her family after finishing the script. Hissrich did state via comments that there were so many steps needed to be taken before a final script was approved and before actual filming to begin, though she did assure everyone that the production team is working hard on the adaptation.

It is worth noting that Hissrich is also serving as the upcoming series' showrunner and executive producer, meaning she has quite a lot of responsibilities for the adaptation.  But she is definitely qualified for the job since she has also worked on other Netflix titles such as "The Defenders" and "Daredevil."

Fans who are expecting the series adaptation to take after the award-winning video game trilogy might be disappointed, as the show will be based on the novels written by Andrej Sapkowski, perhaps starting with the first book "The Last Wish" first published in 1993. Fans need not worry about missing much though since a lot of characters will still be familiar or even run parallel with the video game since the writers of the game adaptations have also stayed faithful to the books despite having their own storyline.

In total, there are eight books in the saga, two of which are collections of short stories while six are novels — quite a lot of source material for Netflix. Fans of the franchise should stay tuned to Netflix for further announcements.
