Actress Ellen Page is set to play another comic book character. Page will play one of the lead roles in the upcoming Netflix series "The Umbrella Academy."

Page's role in the Netflix series is that of Vanya, the outcast of the family. She is the only one among the children of a superhero who does not possess any abilities. Her personality, described as timid and insecure, makes it hard for her to find her purpose in the world. The only thing going for her is her deep love of music, which has gotten her the nickname "The White Violin."

The Netflix series is an adaption from the comic "The Umbrella Academy" created by Gerard Way and illustrated by Gabriel Bá. The series will tell the story of a family of superheroes called Umbrella Academy who are estranged from each other. The heroes Luther, Diego, Allison, Vanya, Number Five, and Klaus will have to work together to find the truth about the death of their father Reginald Hargreaves while dealing with each other's unique personalities coupled with superhuman abilities.

Page shot to fame for playing the title role in the indie comedy film "Juno," where she portrayed a high school student who got pregnant and was looking to give up her child for adoption. The actress also played the character of Kitty Pryde a.k.a. Shadowcat in "X-Men: The Last Stand" and "X-Men: Days of Future Past." Her other notable films include "Inception" directed by Christopher Nolan and the remake of "Flatliners."

Cindy Holland, vice president of Original at Netflix, said that they are excited to pick up "The Umbrella Academy" as the series is wholly unique from aesthetic down to its storytelling. She went on to say that these are not the typical superheroes that get featured and the series plans to be faithful to the comics' dark, supernatural, and humorous tone.

"The Umbrella Academy" is set to stream on Netflix on 2018.
