The latest details about the highly anticipated sequel of the "Dark Souls" action RPG video game has been teased by game director Yui Tanimura. According to Tanimura, a new non-playable character will be featured in the updated version of the game, and the story for the sequel will be given an added twist.

"In terms of new content, there are no additional maps, no. But the story will be new and expanded and fresh, even for the players who have played through seven or eight times," Tanimura shared. "But there are some new ways through the maps."

The director also said that the soon-to-be released version will not have any new enemy, aside from a different type of Dark Phantom which is still a mystery. However, the upcoming game will have a different enemy placement and player interaction compared to the original "Dark Souls 2."

"The enemy placement and the types of enemies that you are going to face, in terms of different areas, is totally different ... And that will change how you will reach the end of the map," claimed the director. "So for the DLCs those were new maps, new areas to explore. For this game, we are basically making a new challenge out of the entire Dark Souls 2."

Bandai Namco Games director Daniel Markoff also gave his own input about the upcoming updated version of the game. According to Markoff, those who enjoyed the original game will have to use a different approach with its updated version. He also said that the new game will have its stages, yet the enemy locations will be completely different.

Meanwhile, director Tanimura also expressed his interest in finding the upcoming "Dark Souls 2" in a virtual reality supported medium. Although this idea seems to be far-fetched as of the moment, Tanimura said that he believes that the technology will be a perfect addition to the game.

For now, "Dark Souls 2" is available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms.
