Linebacker Jamie Collins leads the list of players who were unable to join the New England Patriots in their practice last Wednesday because of injuries.

Collins was unable to play in last Sunday's 27–10 victory over the Washington Redskins because of illness.

The second round pick by the Patriots in the 2013 National Football League (NFL) Draft is one of the best defensive players for the team this season, having 51 tackles and 4.5 sacks in seven games played.

Collins already surpassed the sack tally he had in the 2014 season when he recorded four sacks.

According to reports, joining Collins who were also unable to participate in Wednesday's practice were guard Tre' Jackson who is dealing with a left knee injury; offensive tackles Marcus Cannon who has a toe injury and Sebastian Vollmer who suffered a concussion in their game against the Redskins.

ESPN added that the Patriots included cornerback Justin Coleman (hand) and safety Duron Harmon (knee) in the injury report and they were limited in practice.

But it was not all bad news from the injury department for the Pats as defensive end Jabaal Sheard returned following a three-game absence due to an ankle injury.

The Patriots had a walk-through session last Wednesday which gave the players a chance to rest more since the work needed during the activity was more on the mental aspect.

New England sits atop the American Football Conference (AFC) East with an 8–0 record and is one of the only three remaining teams that have yet to suffer a defeat this 2015 season.

Up next for the Patriots will be a trip to the MetLife Stadium this Sunday for Week 10 action to take on the New York Giants who are also coming off a win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The game will feature two of the most winningest quarterbacks in the NFL in the Pats' Tom Brady and the Giants' Eli Manning.
