It was all too easy last week for the Patriots as they bounced back in style from their first loss of the season in Week 4.

Tom Brady made his return for New England as they swept aside a poor Cleveland Browns side 33-13 to get the Patriots' season back on track and move themselves up to 4-1.

From the start there was only ever going to be one team that had a chance of winning this one, and with the Cleveland Browns entering the game on 0-4 they were always unlikely to pose any serious threat to one of the most powerful sides in the NFL.

The Bengals meanwhile suffered a third defeat of the season last week on the road to the Dallas Cowboys. That 28-14 defeat leaves the Bengals on 2-3 and if they lose again today they will be struggling to stay relevant to the postseason even at this early stage of the season.

For the opening three quarters against the Cowboys, the Bengals were completely toothless in offense, and if they cannot get themselves going today it could prove to be a very long afternoon for Cincinnati fans.

Earlier this week, Week 6 got started with a big game between the Denver Broncos and the San Diego Chargers on Thursday Night Football.

The Broncos came into the game as heavy favorites, with most expecting them to bounce back from their first defeat of the season a week before. However, it became apparent that Denver's first loss was not simply a minor blip, and they now appear to be heading into a slump in form as they were defeated 21-13 by the Chargers.

San Diego were in charge throughout, and heading into the final quarter, the Chargers were 19-3 ahead. The Broncos finally showed some life in offense in the fourth quarter, but 10 points was nowhere near enough to get them back into the game.

That result dropped the Broncos back to 4-2, and simultaneously lifted the Chargers up to 2-4 and gives them a tiny glimmer of hope that this season still holds something for them.

The victory will be sweet relief for San Diego fans, who have witnessed their team constantly choke to give away fourth quarter leads again and again this season to drop to 1-4.

Although there were signs of what had gone on in previous games here, the result was never seriously in doubt. Chargers' fans will still have been holding their breath though when the Broncos shortened the lead to 8 points with 32 seconds left, but a last gasp drive from the Broncos ended with a failed Hail Mary and finally the San Diego faithful were able to breathe again.

The Broncos now have time to rest with an extra long week before returning in Week 7 on Monday Night Football to face the Houston Texans. Meanwhile, the Chargers won't play again until two Sundays from now when they will take on the Atlanta Falcons.
